Connected Workshop by 0800-Architecture
"I wake up in my warm and cozy flat on a cold but sunny morning. I get up and put my tea kettle on heat to slowly prepare me for the active day to come. While waiting for the water to boil, I look out the window into the fall weather, wondering what new people I meet today. After a short breakfast I take out my bike and begin to cycle towards my new work space at Hangar X. Upon arrival I realize I am a bit early, so I decide to take a short tour through Tempelhofer Feld to feel the light autumn breeze before meeting up with my friends in the Hangar building. After parking my bike, I realize that the place is busier than it used to be. People are already bustling around, moving things, cutting, painting, talking, listening to music, preparing for the upcoming workshop. Seeing all these people working together to create something new, it is hard to imagine for me that this space had once been empty and unused. As I step over the threshold of the gate I see my friends waving at me, welcoming me to join in the action."

*We are Magda, Nilhan and Sebastian. A young (and brand-new) collective of architects from different backgrounds, who decided to make Berlin their home. We stand for a sensible architecture that is affordable for all, which is not defined by social control or order but connectivity. We want to get involved as architects, but also as fellow inhabitants of the city, which is why we started the spatial service line 0800-ARCHITECTURE.
We are currently not bound by space, but we would like to have one for us to get started in. Hangar X would give us what we need, an inclusive space that is there for all, where we can get to work and in contact with everybody who wants or needs spatial consultation, whether in private or communal living situations. Our line is free of charge, but we do accept donations.
We would like to set up a workshop that functions as an office space to work and exchange ideas with all hangar residents, but also as a practical workshop to experiment, develop and build structures that benefit everybody within the Hangar, and also beyond.
At the same time we open the free spatial info line for anybody interested in individual feedback on architectural issues to improve them together.
We are very much interested in the topic of safe spaces as a social and physical phenomenon. Together with future residents, as well as anybody who would like to join and contribute, we would like to investigate private and communal spaces in their potential, as well as the transfer in between them. We would like to situate our workshop in Hangar X to stay connected with the community, and to support them in shaping their own / collective space so they can own it.
