Urban Assemblea Berlin
Tempelhof Airport, as we know it today, was built during the National Socialist regime, the purpose of Hangar X is to maintain a democratic political culture. The varied history of the site should be critically reflected in its use, and to this end, marginalised groups in particular, who also negotiate the city and rarely have the monetary means to own space, should be given the opportunity to do so. Especially in times of Covid19 the political work of political groups of civil society commitment for a diverse democratic and intersectional Berlin is fostered. Meetings cannot take place in real life because there are no large enough rooms to comply with hygiene regulations. To dispose of these rooms in a Berlin with a high pressure of space is also a question of privilege and leads to the permanent exclusion of these voices. Exclusive digital meetings cannot guarantee the same level of care for each other, require access and ownership of the techni-
cal equipment and do not meet security standards. Urban Assemblea Berlin creates space for BLM Groups, Migrantifas, LGBQTI Groups, Disabled Body Politics, Feminist Groups, FFF, Rigth to the City, Urban Activism Groups...
