Reclaim public space at Tempelhof Airport
A Queer Working Space
A work and event space for queer people and queer advocates working in creative fields. Partly in reaction against the ‘bro’ startup culture typical in the large commercial co- working spaces, the project would create an inclusive queer friendly working environment for freelancers and individuals of all genders, skin colors, ages and disabilities. As well as space for different types of working, an event space for talks and workshops would form a catalyst for collaboration between users.
“Fundamentally, queer space is space in the process of, literally, taking place, of claiming territory.”
Christopher Reed, author of Imminent Domain: Queer Space in the Built Environment
“Normative spaces are spaces where rules are very strict, but you can feel that there are other places with many different layers to them, where many things could happen. Queer, in this sense, is the possibility of behaving differently.”
Andrés Jaque, Spanish architect and educator
